Huge new development of family homes planned for Kilkenny

A huge new housing development of family homes is the pipeline for Kilkenny.

Developer Kevin Moore Building Contractor Ltd has requested planning permission from Kilkenny County Council for 75 new houses at a site in Ayrfield on Granges Road in Kilkenny.

If given the go-ahead, this would be phase one of a larger development at that location.

The plans are calling for permission to build eight five-bedroom detached houses, 18 four-bedroom detached and 26 four-bed semi-detached homes and three three-bed terraced homes.

Two three-floor apartment blocks would also be created if approved, consisting of two one-bed apartments, 18 two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom apartments between the two blocks.

Five garages would be provided to cater for parking and bikes, while new footpaths and bike lanes would be created from the development through Granges Road and onto Lousybusy Lane.

A new entrance for cars will also be created off the Grange Road.

A decision on the application is expected from the local authority before the end of May.
