‘I have never seen it so bad’ – Focus Ireland in urgent Kilkenny homeless appeal

Focus Ireland have launched an urgent appeal to help the homeless or those at risk of losing their home in Kilkenny this Christmas.

“I have never seen it this bad with many babies now being born into homelessness,” Focus Ireland Life President & Founder Sr. Stan saud.

“Our work will continue because this crisis must be ended. We must continue to provide a voice for the many people and families who are voiceless.”

There are 237 adults and 46 children who are officially homeless in the Southeast (Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary Waterford and Wexford), with almost 500 families and more 1,000 children homeless nationwide outside of Dublin.

“People in Kilkenny and the Southeast have been very generous in the lead up to Christmas, with many companies and members of the public participating in our Christmas Jumper day and hosting events in aid of Focus Ireland,” Focus Ireland Southeast Services Manager David Kniblock says.

“The current situation would be even worse without the vital services and housing Focus Ireland provide. This means we really need public support now more than ever so we can be there when people need help the most.”

Sr. Stan added: “Any donation will help us to directly support families, children and individuals to get out of homelessness. It will also help prevent other families and individuals from becoming homeless in the first place. People can donate at www.focusireland.ie or ph: 1850 204 205.”
