Investigation launched into spate of break-ins in county Kilkenny town
Gardai are investigating a spate of breaks-ins that have occurred in a county Kilkenny town recently.
Three break-ins of similar circumstances happened in Callan in the space of 24 hours last week.
The first two incidents happened close to the Callan town centre late last Tuesday afternoon, February 18, between 4pm and 6pm while the occupants were away.
Two houses, quite close to each other in the town were targeted in quick succession. In both incidents, the properties were entered after a window at the rear of each house was smashed to gain entry.
In one house, the burglars managed to make off with cash and jewellery, while they made off with an amount of cash at the second house.
Around 24 hours later a house in Courtnaboula in Callan was broken into.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 19 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. Once again, the burglars managed to get into the house by forcing open a window at the rear of the house.
Once inside, the burglars made their way through the house and left after locating an amount of coins, shoes and trainers.
A local Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie: “We are appealing for any information in relation to these incidents, if anyone saw someone or something suspicious in the Callan area around that time, we ask them to contact the gardaí in Callan on 056 7775016.”
