Just the ticket – Kilkenny City Bus service carries its first passengers

The wheels of the Kilkenny City Bus are finally going round and round as the new public transport service carried its first passengers this morning.

At 7am the first buses pulled up to the new bus stops at PurcellsInch and Loughboy, the doors opened and the passengers hopped on.

Despite the driving rain and high winds in Kilkenny this morning the buses, operated by City Direct as part of the Transport for Ireland public transport network, are running on time as planned.

The buses are very user-friendly with free wifi on-board and USB charging points beside all the seats.

The new service calls at 64 stops across the city’s two routes, KK1 and KK2 which then crossover in the city centre and in a first for Irish public transport – transfers from one route to the other are free.
