Kilkenny Council’s ‘lightbulb moment’ shortlisted for national community award

A lightbulb moment by Kilkenny County Council staff has been shortlisted for a prestigious national community award.

The local authorities ‘Streetlight LED Retrofit Pilot Project’ has been nominated in the Best Energy Smart Initiative at the the All Ireland Community and Council Awards

Now in its 14th year, the All Ireland Community and Council Awards, hosted by the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA), highlights and recognises examples of communities and councils working together.

The awards aim to bring to public attention projects and developments that may otherwise go unrecognised and celebrate the work done within our communities by the people living there and the local authority, in an effort to create rewarding community ventures.

These awards reward those unsung heroes and recognise the phenomenal contribution they’ve made to lives surrounding them.

The winners, representing their counties, will be announced by RTE’s Marty Morrissey at a gala awards ceremony at Croke Park Stadium on Saturday, February 15.
