Gardai to visit Kilkenny estates today in new drive to combat break-ins

GARDAI will be making door-to-door visits to homes in estates in Kilkenny city this evening as part of a new initiative to combat burglaries in the city.

Superintendent Derek Hughes is spearheading the initiative, codenamed Operation Homesafe, which will take place between 5pm and 9pm.

A Kilkenny Garda spokesperson said: “The aim of the operation is to make homeowners more aware of their security and how to keep their property safe. Garda members will conduct house to house calls advising homeowners on home security.”

The areas that have been selected for Operation Homesafe are The Sycamores, Aylesbury, Talbot’s Grove and Talbot’s Court. The Garda Command Vehicle will be stationed at the entrance to The Sycamores as the operation gets underway.
