Kilkenny home care company creates 30 new jobs

A locally-based company that provides care for older people has created 30 new jobs.

In a statement, Home Instead Kilkenny announced it is looking “to add 30 new CAREGivers to its team, which delivers essential services to older people in local communities throughout county Kilkenny”.

A spokesperson said the announcement “coincides with the pending winter months which
with its shorter days and longer nights leads to an increase in illness and time spent alone among older adults”.

Home Instead Kilkenny general manager Amy Quille said: “Social interaction and companionship are crucial to maintaining good mental health, and helping to prevent cognitive decline particularly in older people and working as a CAREGiver in your local community provides a much-valued lifeline to those older adults who need it.”

Home Instead CAREGivers deliver a range of non-medical care services to older people, from companionship to specialised dementia and palliative care.

Ms Quille said of the new jobs announcement: “The work is local, the jobs are sustainable and there are
opportunities available in rural and urban areas around the county.

“We’re inviting applications from people with an interest in care to join us in helping older people age happily and remain in in their own homes, throughout this coming winter and beyond.”
