Kilkenny hurling legend looks to glory days for inspiration on the dancefloor
Hurling legend Aidan Fogarty looked back at his finest moment in a Kilkenny jersey to give him inspiration on the dancefloor last night.
This week on Dancing With The Stars, the celebrities danced to a song which reminds them of a memorable year of their lives as they recalled the personal stories behind their choice.
Aidan picked 2006, the year he won his first All-Ireland medal and scored Kilkenny’s only goal in the All-Ireland final, preventing Cork from winning three in a row.
The eight-time All-Ireland winner and his partner Emily Barker performed the final dance on last night show, the Charleston to Bingo Bango by Basement Jaxx.
Aidan scored 21 points, but he admitted afterwards: “I just couldn’t get the swivel.”
Judge Brian Redmond felt the dance was “a little bit too cool for school for a Charleston”, while Loraine Barry said “it was not my cup of tea”.
However, Julian Benson praised the performance, describing it as “a cool, funky Charleston”.
Olympic gold medal winner Michael Carruth became the third celebrity dancer to depart from this year’s show last night.
Michael and his partner Karen Byrne danced a tango, scoring 13 points from the judges – but it wasn’t enough to save them from elimination.
