Terrified Kilkenny man held captive as burglary gang ransacked his home

A man was held captive in his home in county Kilkenny while a gang ransacked his house and fled with cash.

The aggravated burglary happened at a house in Gathabawn, near Freshford between 6.50pm and 7.10pm yesterday evening.

The owner was in his house when five men burst in. The gang, all whose faces were covered, ransacked the house while holding the owner captive.

After locating a sum of money, the gang fled the scene and made their getaway in the direction of Johnstown, gardai believe.
