LATEST: 55 more deaths and over 6,000 new cases of virus confirmed
A further 6,307 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed by the Department of Health this evening.
And there are now 429 people in hospital who have tested positive for the virus, a drop of 14 since yesterday. Of these 100 patients are in ICU, a reduction of two.
The department also confirmed there has been a further 55 Covid-related deaths notified in Ireland over the past week.
It brings to 5,890 the total number of people who have died after contracting coronavirus here.
