Man arrested over murder of Kilkenny woman 34 years ago released without charge

THE MAN arrested by Kilkenny gardai investigating the murder of Marie Tierney in 1984 has been released without charge.
The suspect, who is in his 70’s, was arrested yesterday morning in relation to the murder of the mother-of-two who disappeared from Newpark, Kilkenny on October 22, 1984.
Her body was discovered in a ditch on Bleach Road, Kilkenny on December 21, 1984.
The man was released this morning. A file on the matter is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
