Speed demon clocked doing 185kph on Kilkenny motorway

A man caught driving 65kph over the speed limit on a Kilkenny road is due in court on charges of dangerous driving.

Members of the Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit were on the M9, near Paulstown, yesterday evening when they detected a car travelling at over 185kph.

The gardai took after the car managed to pull the male driver over, where he was arrested on the spot.

The man was charged with dangerous driving and is to appear at a sitting of Kilkenny District Court in the coming weeks.

Gardai are urging people, especially during winter months when road conditions are more changeable and challenging for drivers, to “slow down, heed the speed limits at all times and arrive alive”.
