Man killed in Castlecomer road tragedy was young father-of-one
THE motorcyclist who died in the road collision near Castlecomer yesterday is a young father-of-one who worked in Glanbia.
The victim was named locally as David Boland, a married 30-year-old and father to a young daughter, who lived in Cloneen, Crettyard.
His funeral details have not yet been announced. A notice on RIP.ie simply said: “David will be sadly missed by his living family. May he rest in peace.”
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision with a lorry. The tragic accident occurred at approximately 11am around two kilometres outside of Castlecomer on the Kilkenny city side.
His body was removed to St Luke’s General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
It is understood David had worked in Glanbia as a maintenance technician.
The fatal accident followed another serious crash in Cuffesgrange involving a car and a tractor with a trailer on Tuesday night.
One woman who was seriously injured in the collision remains in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
