LATEST: Burnt out car discovered close to where shots fired on gardai
A massive garda manhunt is continuing across the South East after shots were fired at a garda patrol car this morning.
Gardai responded to a report of suspicious activity at near Gorey in Wexford at 8.30am. They attempted to stop a blue BMW 318 with the Waterford registration – 06 W 1012 on the R725 road between Gorey and Carnew.
The car failed to stop and gardai took chase. The driver of the car then fired two shots at the gardai who were in pursuit.
This man was wearing a scarf over his face, a hat and a long black jacket and is said to be six feet tall. The gardai cut their pursuit after the shots were fired.
The BMW was discovered soon after burnt out in the townland of Banntown, Co. Wexford. Gardai continue to appeal for information on the whereabouts of a dark grey/ black Skoda Fabia car that was also in the area around that time.

They are appealing to anyone who may have seen the Blue BMW 318 registration number 06 W 1012 in recent days to come forward, or anyone who was driving on the R725 Gorey to Carnew Road between 8am and 9am, particular any person with dashcam video to contact Gorey Garda Station 053 943 0690.
