Motorway checkpoints return to Kilkenny in Easter crackdown on travel
Motorway checkpoints have started up again in Kilkenny as part of the national effort to curb the spread of Covid-19.
As of this week, An Garda Síochána re-commenced high-profile static checkpoints on the M8 and M9 motorways.
These motorway checkpoints will be supported by local mobile checkpoints on other roads around the county.
The recommencement of the visible checkpoints are to support the current Public Health Regulations and further strengthen the response to the current high levels of Covid-19 infection in the community.
Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security Anne Marie McMahon said: “The Public Health regulations remain in place, including restriction on travelling outside of your home.
“Once again this Easter Period you are being asked to stay at home to protect yourself, your family, your relatives and friends.”
