Normal winter service resumes as temperatures plummet
GET ready to dust off your winter coats, scarves and gloves as temperatures are about to drop considerably over the coming days.
The unusually mild weather we’ve experienced in recent weeks is set to come to a chilly end as normal winter service resumes this week.
Met Éireaan has forecast that temperatures will plummet to as low as 5C on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to Met Éireann’s Pat Clark, Kilkenny and the rest of the country are “entering a much colder regime” that looks set to continue continue right into next weekend.
He said: “It will be breezy and cold tomorrow night with scattered showers.
“Then, the midweek period will be quite cold. There will be some hail about, and thunder is expected too.
“The temperatures are due to be around three to four degrees lower than normal.
“And the fresh easterly and gusty winds we’re expecting will make it feel even cooler.”
Tomorrow is expected to see a mix of bright spells and showers, with highest temperatures of between 7-8C.
