Plain sailing: Boat stolen from Kilkenny driveway recovered by gardai
A pleasure boat, its engine, and trailer which were stolen from a county Kilkenny driveway earlier this week and which was reported by KilkennyNow.ie on Friday night has been recovered by Gardai.
“The Gardai in Graiguenamanagh were delighted to reunite an injured party with his boat which was reported stolen during the week,” a post on Garda Síochána Kilkenny/Carlow Facebook said.
“A search of a premises in Waterford led to the recovery of the boat and one person was arrested and charged with the theft.
We would like to take the opportunity to remind boat owners to secure their vessels when both on and off the water.
“Outboard engines should be removed and secured and full use should be made of property marking devices. For further information visit www.garda.ie or contact our Crime Prevention Officer at Kilkenny Garda Station.”
The two-berth river cruiser called the “Shady Lady” was stolen from a driveway in Friar’s Hill in Graiguenamanagh sometime between Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, June 4.
Not only was the distinctive blue and white boat taken, the boat’s outboard motor and its trailer were also stolen.
It would have taken a vehicle with a tow-bar on it to move the boat.
Anyone with information or who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the Friar’s Hill area during that week is asked to contact Graiguenamanagh Garda Station on 059 972 5750.
