Plans to build family homes on site of Celtic Tiger development in county Kilkenny
Plans to build new family homes on the site of a Celtic Tiger era development have been received by Kilkenny Council.
Meadowcourt Homes Ltd is looking to extend a period of planning permission granted to it in 2015 to build five large family homes at a site in The Beeches estate in Ballyrobin, Ferrybank.
Under the original planning permission granted in 2005, 80 houses were to be built at the Beeches development. In total, 59 homes were completed before the construction crash in the early 2010s.
In 2014, Meadowcourt Homes Ltd applied to Kilkenny County Council to alter the planning permission on the remaining development, seeking to build five detached two-storey homes on five sites in Chestnut Crescent instead of the 10 semi-detached in the original planning.
In 2015, Kilkenny Council decided to grant permission for these five homes.
However, that period of permission is coming to an end in the coming months and Meadowcourt Homes has gone back to the local authority seeking an extension of another five years to the planning.
A decision from Kilkenny County Council is expected by October 7.
