Plans to link Kilkenny Greenway with Suir Blueway on track
A 20km extension that would see the Kilkenny Greenway connected to the Suir Blueway is the centre-piece of a new tourism strategy for the region.
Joining the South Kilkenny Greenway, which is currently under construction, to the Suir Blueway at Carrick-on-Suir is at the heart of a mew five-year plan for the area known as the Munster Vales.
The 20km path will traverse through counties Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford, and it is hoped could eventually link with Wexford, South Limerick and North Cork.
The strategy, which sets out its vision until 2025, has plans to develop heritage, sustainability and community tourism across Tipperary, Waterford, Limerick and parts of Cork, but also covers the lower course of the River Suir.
