WEATHER ALERT: New warning issued for Kilkenny, sub-zero temperatures and snow forecast
As cold and as it has been in Kilkenny this week, the coming days are expected to be much worse with snow, sleet and freezing conditions forecast.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow snow and ice warning which is set to last most of the weekend.
The weather warning comes into effect at 6pm tomorrow evening and will remain in place until noon on Sunday.
The alert, which is in place for the entire island of Ireland, forecasts “falls of hail, sleet and snow” and “icy and hazardous conditions”.
Meanwhile, AA Roadwatch has issued a warning of their own for motorists in preparation for snowy and icy conditions.
The AA warned: “It can take up to 10 times longer to stop a vehicle on icy roads. Make sure you slow down and keep well back from whoever’s in front. Allow yourself more time to fully deice your car before making an essential journey.”
