Sophie Toscan du Plantier murder: Ian Bailey arrested, faces extradition to France, then bailed
Ian Bailey has been arrested and then bailed today following a High Court recommendation to approve his extradition to France in connection to the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier 22 years ago.
French authorities have already convicted Mr Bailey with the murder in Schull, county Cork in 1996.
Earlier this summer Mr Bailey was sentenced to 25 years for the illegal killing of Ms Toscan du Plantier. He was not present in the French courts as the sentence was passed.
The 39-year-old French film producer’s battered body was found on December 23, 1996. She had been staying at a holiday home her husband had bought her.
Mr Bailey denies any involvement in the killing of Ms Toscan du Plantier.
