There’s a storm brewing: Kilkenny set for more spectacular lightning as Yellow Warning issued
After one of the most spectacular electrical storms ever to hit county Kilkenny late on Saturday night through into Sunday morning, we are being warned of more of the same for most of this afternoon.
It may not be the end of it either, as weather models are predicting we could have more electric storms tomorrow and Thursday.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow – Thunder warning for Kilkenny, Waterford, Tipperary and the rest of Leinster with the worst of the storms to come this afternoon.
The national forecaster says: “Thunderstorms with hail expected again today mainly in parts of east Munster and Leinster giving severe downpours in places with some surface flooding.”
The warning is valid from 7am this morning until 9pm this evening.
Charts are showing the worst of the storm is expected to travel over county Kilkenny between 2pm and 8pm today, there could be some localised outbreaks of thunder and lightning over South Kilkenny up until 11pm tonight.
But it may not be last of it either, early indications are predicting another strong possibility of thunder and lightning storms over the county tomorrow afternoon and again on Thursday afternoon, before the weather starts to settle again.
Once again, dog owners are being asked to make sure their pets are ok, as storms of this size can spook them.
