WATCH: Talented Kilkenny teen hosts national event to mark World Children’s Day
A Kilkenny teenager will take centre stage when she hosts a prestigious international event tomorrow.
Katie McKenna (19) will host Child Talks tomorrow to mark World Children’s Day.
The event organised by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office (OCO) is a ‘TED Talks’ style event that aims to have the voices of children and young people heard by a wider audience.
Child Talks will be held virtually this year due to Covid-19 restrictions. Each panellist will record their story from their own homes and these will be combined to form an hour-long programme that will be broadcast at 11am tomorrow.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon, will also appear on the virtual stage to cover a range of topics including mental health, individuality at school, the environment, living with autism, homelessness, youth activism and cultural identity.
