WEATHER ALERT: Yellow weather warning – heavy rain, sleet and snow expected
Heavy rain, which could lead to spells of sleet and snow, is expected to hit Kilkenny this afternoon.
And it looks like it already may have started in some parts of the county with downpours reported in Northern Kilkenny.
Motorist are being warned there is a good chance of spot flooding around the county as part of the deluge that is expected to last 12 hours.
Kilkenny has been included in the Status Yellow rainfall warning that comes into effect at 2pm this afternoon. The warning also includes Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow and Tipperary.
A Met Eireann forecaster said: ” A spell of heavy rain is likely to lead to some spot flooding and will turn to sleet and snow in places later today.
“This warning is valid from Wednesday, November 13 at 2pm to Thursday, November 14 at 2am.”
Temperatures are set to remain around 5C or 6C but will feel much colder due to the rain.
Motorists have been urged to drive carefully as there may be hazardous driving conditions in many areas.
