WEEKEND WEATHER: Kilkenny to enjoy best of sun as clouds loom on horizon

Cloudy weather will take some of the sheen off this weekend, but Kilkenny and south east will get the best of the weather forecast for the country over the coming days.

Met Éireann warned it will be “a bit cloudier” this weekend in general, but the good news is that any rain or drizzle will largely be confined to the north and west of the country.

The national forecast said today will be “mostly dry”, but cloudier than the clear blue skies we enjoyed yesterday, with maximum temperatures between 11 to 17 degrees.

Tomorrow will begin brightly, with good sunny spells in the east and south early on, although it will get cloudier in the afternoon, with the “odd light shower” forecast for this corner of the country. Highest temperatures will range between 12 and 15 degrees.

Sunday is shaping up to be a somewhat duller day but – again – it looks as if we’ll get the best of it.

Met Éireann said: “Further south and east; largely dry for much of the day with a mix of cloud and bright or sunny intervals, but patchy rain and drizzle spreading here too in the evening. Any accumulations will be rather minimal in the east and south, however. Highs of 12 to 17 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally gusty, southwest breezes, fresh to strong near west and northwest coasts.”

The cloudy conditions are likely to continue into Monday, which will be “misty to begin with” but brightening up steadily as the day goes on, according to the national forecaster.
