WEEKEND WEATHER: Kilkenny to enjoy welcome change in conditions over coming days

Kilkenny can look forward to a welcome change in the weather, with drier more settled conditions forecast over the coming days.

In its latest forecast, Met Éireann said there will be a good deal of dry weather as high pressure builds over Ireland for next week.

The national forecaster said today will be being with a “dull start”, with continued outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It added: “Rain will become lighter and patchier through the morning, with drier intervals and occasional bright spells developing. A spell of heavier rain will spread over parts of the southwest and west in the evening, with a risk of localised flooding. Mild again with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in a moderate southerly breeze.”

It will be drier tomorrow, with just a few isolated showers and good sunny spells, which will extend from the west through the day as the rain clears eastwards into the Irish Sea by evening, with highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.

Sunday will also be largely dry with sunny spells though a few showers will continue over northern Ulster and highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees.

Monday will be mostly dry on the morning with some hazy sunny spells. But Met Éireann warned: “Outbreaks of rain will move in over western Ulster during the afternoon, staying largely elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees in mostly light northwesterly breezes. Light outbreaks of rain will continue over Ulster with occasional patchy drizzle in west Connacht, remaining drier elsewhere with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, coolest in the south Mist and fog patches will develop in light northwesterly breezes.”

Tuesday will also see good dry periods with a mix of cloud, sunny spells, becoming a little cloudier near eastern coasts during the afternoon with some light patchy rain and highest temperatures generally of 13 to 15 degrees.

Met Éireann said current indications suggest there will be plenty of dry settled weather next week with sunny spells and highest temperatures ranging between 12 to 15 degrees.
