‘We’re going to Tralee!’ – Kilkenny’s new Rose thanks family and friends
KILKENNY’s new Rose has issued a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to her family and friends as she prepares to represent her county at the international festival in Tralee later this year.
Clodagh Cassin (22) was the judges’ choice of the 26 local finalists who graced the stage at the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel for the packed selection event on Saturday night.
The popular student (pictured above with her proud parents) and international hockey player, who was sponsored by Brogan’s Bar, took to Instagram last night to pay tribute to her family and friends for their support.
Clodagh said: “We’re going to Tralee!! I really appreciate the support. To all my family and friends who made last night even more special, thank you! Roll on an exciting 2019.”
The 2019 Kilkenny Rose is a sports-mad student who is in her final year studying Agricultural Science at UCD. She plans to begin a PME (Master’s in Education) in September and go on to be a secondary school teacher.
Clodagh is also a talented hockey player who has travelled the world representing her country at all under-age levels, and she’s not afraid to get hands dirty when she’s back at home helping out on the family farm.
Clodagh said: “When I’m home, I am usually out helping my dad move cattle, driving the tractor or maybe even doing a bit of ploughing!”
