What a weekend! 30,000 revellers lap up glorious sunshine, Cody’s Cats declaw Cork at Croke Park

THE sound of tills ringing is music to the ears of pubs, restaurants and businesses in Kilkenny tonight with 30,000 revellers descending on the city as it plays host to two of rock n’ roll’s greatest living legends.

With the Marble City bathed in glorious summer sunshine, businesses experienced one of the busiest days of the year as Bob Dylan and Neil Young rolled into town.

And the feelgood factor went into overdrive after Brian Cody’s Cats clawed their way to an All-Ireland semi-final after their mauling of Cork at Croke Park.

At our own GAA headquarters, Neil Young took to the stage at Nowlan Park 6pm, to be followed by Bob Dylan at 8.45pm tonight.

Meanwhile, up the road at Gowran Park, Mike Denver and some of the biggest names in Irish country music entertained thousands more at the Kilkenny County Music Festival.

All in all, it was an incredible weekend of music, sport and entertainment – and it will certainly have hit a welcome high note with local businesses.

The clean-up – and the hangover – will kick in first thing tomorrow, but for now thousands are happily enjoying watching the sun set on one of the most memorable weekends of the year.
