10 drug seizures in Kilkenny in just one week

Gardai in Kilkenny have carried no fewer than 10 separate drug busts in the city and county over the past week.

A local Garda source told KilkennyNow.ie the seizures are not connected.

One of the largest raids took place on the Old Callan Road in the city on Thursday. Members of the Kilkenny Garda Drugs Unit, backed up by the Detective Unit, carried out a planned search of the property and recovered a quantity of cannabis herb and benzodiazepines.

A file is currently being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in relation to the seizure.

In another incident, a Garda source confirmed members of the Kilkenny Drugs Unit “intercepted” up to €8,000 worth of cannabis herb that was on route to an address in the Callan area.

A 26-year-old suspected was questioned in relation to the seizure. A file on this matter is also being prepared for the DPP.
