THREE men who failed to crack a safe – with a sledgehammer – are being sought by gardai after an unsuccessful break-in Kilkenny last night.
The incident happened at a well-known agribusiness on the Freshford Road at around 11pm.
The three men made their way onto the premises and gained entry to an office that contained a safe.
They attempted to break open the safe with a sledgehammer, although they may have been attempting break the safe free from the room.
A diligent employee noticed something suspicious and rumbled the three-men team. Once the burglars realised they had been spotted they fled the premises on foot. The men made their escape through a field beside the business premises.
A local Garda spokesperson told KilkennyNow.ie: “We ask anyone who may have seen three people on foot, or indeed in a vehicle, in the Freshford Road area between 10pm and 12:30am last night to contact Kilkenny gardai on 056 777 5000.”
