Banned and uninsured driver arrested after giving false name to gardai in Kilkenny
An uninsured and disaqualified driver was caught red-handed after he parked illegally in Kilkenny city earlier today.
The car was spotted by a uniform officer on a push bike who checked the Garda Mobility app and discovered the tax on the suspect’s car expired almost a full year ago.
To compound matters, the driver then gave a false name to the Garda and a Sergeant at the scene.
A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “The motorist was economical with the truth, giving a false name to The Garda and attending Sergeant. He was accordingly arrested, his vehicle impounded and his true identity as an uninsured disqualified driver uncovered.”
The suspecet has been charged with four separate offences.
