56 new cases of virus confirmed in Kilkenny over past fortnight: report
There have been 56 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in county Kilkenny over the past two weeks, new figures reveal.
The latest figures published by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) reveals Kilkenny has an incidence rate per 100,000 of 56.4 – one of the lowest in the country at present.
Only counties Tipperary, Cork, Leitrim and Carlow have lower incidence rates per 100,000.
Kilkenny’s incidence rate is half the national figure, which currently stands at 117 per 100,000.
However, the incidence rate has been slowly creeping up as of last weekend.
The 5-day moving average of confirmed cases for county Kilkenny is five cases per day, which again is one of the lowest totals of any county in Ireland.
The total number of confirmed cases in Kilkenny since the pandemic started now stands at 3,585.
The HPCS figures are for the two weeks running up until the close of business on Tuesday, July 6.
