Come to Kilkenny! New group aims to lure Dublin businesses to South East

A MAJOR event is taking place, targeting businesses to start, relocate or expand into Kilkenny and the South East.
The event ‘Perfectly Placed:Business, Talent, Funding and Living,’ take place at Trinity College, Dublin tomorrow evening. It is aimed at investors, startups, scale-ups, small and medium enterprises and multi-national corporations, based outside of the South East region.
Organised by John Cleere, Director of Red Lemonade Creative and founder of TechThursdayKK, the event will showcase Kilkenny and the South East region as viable option in which to set up enterprises.
It is the first event arranged by the newly formed Ireland South East Development Office (ISEDO), a development organisation founded by major regional industries within the South East and the county councils of Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. It is the first regional group of its kind in Ireland.
ISEDO has invited major international organisations, as well as burgeoning start-ups mainly based in Dublin, to the event to highlight the benefits of locating all or part of their operations to Kilkenny and the South East region.
Talking to KilkennyNow.ie, Alan Quirke, recently appointed Director of ISEDO said: “We are having this event in Dublin as we are trying to sell the story of what is here in the South East region.
“We are particularly looking at scaling and growth companies. Strong companies that can potentially do their business in the South East and get value out of it.
“On the night the panels will be representative of companies who have succeeded in the South East. Also, there will be a panel discussion focusing on careers.
“The panellist will explain how they have succeeded in having globally successful and challenging careers with global and dynamic companies here in the South East,” he added.
Not only is ISEDO looking to target companies, the event is open to experienced professionals looking to further develop their careers in the South East and take advantage of the benefits of locating there.
ISEDO say that living in the South East people can realise up to 40% more disposable income, have lower childcare costs, more access to schools, lower house and office prices, access to dynamic culture and festivals, an active outdoor lifestyle on people’s doorsteps and have a better work/life balance due to shorter commutes.
