The best bar none: famous Kilkenny boozer named region’s top tourist pub

A COUNTY Kilkenny pub has been named as the best tourist pub in the South East.

Malzards Bar in Stoneyford was this morning announced as the winner in the 2019 Irish Pub Awards.

The award looked for a bar that has a focused and demonstrated plan to, create an Irish Pub experience to attract a tourist market and deliver an exceptional experience to local and international visitors.

Malzards Bar offers just that.  Dating back to 1789, the bar has been in the family of its current owner, Fred Malzard, for over five generations and offers locals and tourists alike a relaxed, fun atmosphere where tourists can get involved in a puck about, a trad session of pull a pint behind the bar.

The winners of the overall award, along with many other categories will be announced at the Irish Pub Awards Gala night in Dublin on November 20 in the RDS.
