Kilkenny bar settles €477,000 Revenue bill

A POPULAR bar in Kilkenny city has made a settlement of nearly €500,000 with the Revenue for under-declaring VAT.

Dayhoff Limited, which runs Breathnach’s and the Bodega restaurant, made a settlement of €477,000 in their VAT case with the Revenue.

The owners of the bar on John Street Upper under-declared their VAT by €200, 670. The Revenue added €76,495 in interest and a further €260,670 in penalties.

According to the latest Revenue Defaulters list, Dayhoff Limited owed the Revenue €477,835.  As of June 30, none of this money had been paid.

Another Kilkenny business fell foul of the taxman during the second quarter of 2019.

Patrick Coady of 25 The Square, Castlecomer, a fuel merchant and undertaker, made a settlement of €40,473 with the Revenue, again for under-declaring VAT.

Mr Coady under-declared by €26,239. The revenue added interest of €6,361 and a further €7,872 in penalties.

In total, €9,800,331.78 was agreed upon in settlement with the Revenue from 43 cases nationwide.
