Great Pink Run for Breast Cancer Ireland returns to Kilkenny Castle
THE grounds of Kilkenny Castle will be turning pink this weekend as people race for a cure for breast cancer.
The Great Pink Run returns to Kilkenny tomorrow morning, following last year’s success. Over 8,000 women, children and indeed men took part in the runs and sponsored by Kilkenny’s own Avonmore Slimline Milk all in an effort to raise funds in the battle against breast cancer.
The event is held in both Dublin and in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle, and there is an event for everyone. There’s a 10k challenge as well as a 5k fun run, a jog or if you just want to walk the dog, all these are catered for and all the money raised goes to Breast Cancer Ireland.
One in nine women develop breast cancer in their lifetime, so everybody knows someone that has been affected. This event raises much needed money to invest in research to help transform breast cancer from often being a fatal disease to a long-term treatable illness.
The runners will set off at 12pm on the 10km run, with the 5km, the jog and the walk starting at 12.40pm
