AN outbreak of the winter vomiting bug has been detected in St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny.
Hospital management has placed visiting restrictions on the affected ward in St Luke’s.
The norovirus (winter vomiting bug) outbreak was detected on Surgical Ward 2 on Monday. Since then hospital staff have been battling to contain the outbreak.
The vomiting bug’s main symptoms are nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting. Some people get headaches and pains in their limbs. People who get the bug usually feel better within a couple of days.
Visitors are still able to access the wards in St Luke’s Hospital that are not affected by the bug.
