WEATHER ALERT: Flooding fears as rainfall warning issued for Kilkenny
KILKENNY people have been warned that heavy rains could cause spot flooding around the county today, making driving conditions treacherous.
A Status Yellow weather rainfall warning has been issued for the county by Met Éireann and will remain in place until 6am on Saturday.
Driving conditions could be dangerous as temperatures are set to drop to freezing or below freezing overnight.
The warning from Met Éireann covers Kilkenny and the South East warning of: “Pulses of heavy rain at times today and overnight.”
The national weather forecaster also warned of “some spot flooding” and rainfall that could “reach up to25mm or 30mm (more than an inch) over the next 24 hours.”
After the Yellow Weather Warning is lifted tomorrow morning, the rest of the weekend will be bright and dry, but it will be freezing with temperatures overnight dropping below 0C.
