Kilkenny musicians roll up to ‘Rock for Teac’

KILKENNY is about to witness a weekend-long music experience, supported by a plethora of local musicians and bands, all promising to Rock for Teac.
The fundraiser is in aid of Kilkenny’s Teac Tom, a local charity that provides counselling and support to those who have been affected by suicide or who are going through a difficult time.
Rock for Teac is a new departure for music in Kilkenny, putting on a veritable festival of live music that will cater to every taste and genre of music.
It kicks-off tonight in Ryan’s Bar on Friary Street, where Blues Ark, Murphy Holmes and Helen Mooney get people into the swing of the bank holiday weekend.
On Saturday, the equipment and tunes move to The Pumphouse on Parliament Street for the Bizarro Ball. Starting with a fancy-dress alternative vinyl disco from 6.30pm, the ball features eight DJs, including the se7en Inch Collective and Davy Holland, whose taste in music and range of tunes will keep everyone moving.
Kyteler’s Inn hosts the Monday Marathon, where local legend Tomas Jackman has enlisted the help of 18 local acts to perform throughout the day. Starting at 3pm, the Monday Marathon is a bargain at just €5 entry.
Rock for Teac is one of the first big events organised by The Marble Index – a new musical venture for Kilkenny, promoting local musical services and events, showcasing local talent and providing information and support to the musical community.
