WEATHER FORECAST: Wrap up well – we’re in for a wet and windy week
JUST when you thought it was safe to go outside … Met Éireann has forecast a wet and windy few days ahead for Kilkenny and the South East.
The national forecast said it will be mostly cloudy today, with outbreaks of rain, persistent and quite heavy at times.
Met Éireann said: “Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees. It will become blustery in the afternoon with fresh and gusty northerly winds.
“Through Monday night, the showery rain will gradually clear eastwards. Clearer weather will follow from the west. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with moderate to fresh northerly breezes.”
Things will be a bit better tomorrow, however, which will is set to be “largely dry and bright with sunny spells” and highest temperatures of between 10 to 12 degrees, and “moderate northerly breezes”.
Wednesday will start off mainly dry with some sunny spells over the eastern half of the country. Temperatures will reach highs of just 7 to 9 degrees, and the night will be cold with frost in places, especially in the east.
Thursday will be quite cold with some bright spells and showers in many areas, some heavy, and highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees. The showers will continue on Thursday night, but will begin to clear overnight.
There is some better news heading into next weekend as conditions brighten up on Friday.
Met Éireann said: On Friday, any remaining showers will clear to the east. The rest of the day will be mainly dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with light to moderate northerly breezes. Friday night will be cold with frost in many areas.”
