Shocked Kilkenny woman watches on as thief breaks into her car in broad daylight

A woman looking out the window of her workplace watched in horror as a man smashed a window to break into her car.

The owner of the car noticed a man loitering around her car whle she was at work in the Grange area of Kilkenny at around midday on Wednesday.

While she was watching him, the man smashed a rear passenger window of her car with his elbow. She ran out of her workplace and started screaming at the thief.

The man grabbed some folders from the back seat and then ran to a car parked close by and fled the scene.

The man is described as being of stocky build with grey hair in his mid-40’s. He was wearing a black top and jeans at the time. The car he was driving was a 07-D reg, black Nissan Micra.

A local Garda spokesperson said: ““If there is an example of how brazen some people are, this is it. The car was locked up, and she had done everything right.

“We ask anyone with information with information to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000.”
