Christmas joy for Kilkenny homeless charity as planning approved for 12 apartments

A Kilkenny charity that works tirelessly to help the homeless and provide living spaces for them has been granted planning permission to build 12 apartments in Kilkenny city centre.

The Good Shepherd Centre in Kilkenny has been given the green light by Kilkenny County Council to build the 12 new apartments for homeless families and individuals, on a site in the Brother Thomas Place on Church Lane in the city.

The council has approved the construction of two two-storey independent apartment blocks. One block will consist of eight apartments and the second will have four.

The plans allow for the removal of an existing boundary wall and the construction of a new boundary fence (in an extended site area) and all associated ancillary accommodation, site works, drainage works and road works.

The site where the apartments are to be built is located within the Saint Canice’s Architectural Conservation Area.
