Ban on visitors at St Luke’s extended into next week
Management at St Luke’s General Hospital have extended the ban on visitors until next Monday as staff continue to battle with an outbreak of the flu virus.
An early decision was taken by management to extend the ban beyond Friday and will now see the ban remain in place until the beginning of next week at the earliest.
It was originally planned to review the situation tomorrow but due to the high numbers of patients still reporting with flu symptoms, St Luke’s management made the decision early.
A spokesperson for the hospital told KilkennyNow.ie: “Visitors are being told to stay away from St Luke’s until next Monday now unless their visit is absolutely necessary.
“As it currently stands, the hospital remains closed to visitors due to the number of people reporting with the flu.
“A review of the situation will take place over the weekend.
“If visiting the hospital is unavoidable, we ask people not to bring children if at all possible.”
