Drug driver nabbed at Garda checkpoint outside Kilkenny city
A suspected drug driver was caught with a quantity of cannabis when he was stopped at a Garda checkpoint on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after his vehicle was searched on the Hebron Road on Sunday evening and is due to appear in court.
A local Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Members of Unit D, Kilkenny conducting a checkpoint on outskirts of City, stopped a motorist and located a small quantity of cannabis. Driver arrested on suspicion of drug driving. Vehicle was also seized as driver had no insurance. Results of blood analysis awaited. Court to follow.
