REVEALED: Top performing Kilkenny schools in 2018 college ‘feeder’ tables
KILKENNY’S Scoil na mBraithre Críostaí has made it into the top 10 list of schools across the country with the highest progression rates of students who went on to study at third level.
The school on James’ Street in the city scored a hugely impressive 108% increase in the 2018 so-called ‘feeder school tables’.
The figures were compiled by The Irish Times and are based on the State Examinations Commission’s list of the number of students who sat their Leaving Cert in every publicly-funded school throughout the Republic, plus information from every publicly-funded third-level institution in the country.
Two more Kilkenny schools made it onto a top 20 list of ‘Most Improved Schools’ based on their performance between 2012 and 2018.
Grennan College in Thomastown came in 16th on the list, showing a 29% increase in the number of its students going on to study at third level during that six-year period.
The Presentation Convent was the 18th ‘most improved’ school throughout the country on the list, recording a 27% rise for the same period.
