Local woman to manage new JYSK store which opens first store in South East on February 27
A home retail store which aims to revolutionise the South East’s home and furnishings shopping experience is to open its brand new store by the end of the month.
Danish home retailer JYSK will open the doors to its new store at Boland’s Retail Park in Waterford at 9am on Thursday, February 27, creating 10 jobs in the process.
JYSK, a home furniture store that rivals IKEA, is renowned for an extensive range of products for the home, the bedroom and the garden.
To help make JYSK first store in the South East as success, they have entrusted the running of the store to a local lady with vast retailing experience.
Waterford’s Kelly Ryan has worked in senior roles in the retail sector for almost 20 years and worked with many leading retailers including Petmania, Peacocks, Jane Norman and River Island.
“It’s an exciting time to be with such a huge company that’s just starting its journey in Ireland,” Kelly said. “ I love my job here at JYSK and I’m delighted to have one of the biggest JYSK stores in Ireland coming to Waterford. It’s going to be beautiful and I can’t wait for customers to see it.”
The new Waterford store will be just the sixth outlet JYSK has opened in Ireland and it is planning to open further stores in Limerick, Carlow, Dublin and two in Cork city before the end of the summer.
JYSK currently has over 2,800 stores in 52 countries and is expanding all the time. The Danish retailer has ambitious plans for Ireland and has increased the number of stores it intends opening from 15 to 40 over the next three to five years, creating hundreds of new jobs in the process.
