‘On a spin to clear my head’ – Kilkenny motorist stopped 90kms from home tells gardai at Covid-19 checkpoint in Wicklow Mountains
A Kilkenny motorist was given short shrift after he was stopped at a Covid-19 Garda checkpoint – almost 90 kilometres from home in the Wicklow Mountains.
The Castlecomer native was caught at the junction of the scenic Military Road (pictured below) at Glencree, county Wicklow, over the weekend.
When quizzed by gardai, the motorist explained that he was going “on a spin to clear my head”.
But his excuse failed to impress the officers, who promptly send him home with a stern warning.
A Garda spokesperson commented: “Must have a very big head if it needs that much clearing.”
