Balaclava-wearing burglar armed with hunting knife caught trying to break into premises in Kilkenny city-centre
A man wearing a balaclava in possession of a hunting knife was arrested after trying to force his way into a premises in Kilkenny city.
Garda responded to an incident at Church Lane in Kilkenny City at 8.50am on Thursday morning.
When they arrived at the scene, the man in the balaclava was in a heated argument and screaming at a person inside the premises.
The 36-year-old man removed the balaclava once he noticed the gardai had arrived.
When the gardai searched the man the found a hunting knife concealed under his shirt. The man was arrested and brought to Kilkenny Garda Station.
He has since been charged in relation to firearm offences and is due to appear at the next sitting of Kilkenny District Court.
