Utter trash: Fly-tippers strike in Kilkenny city leaving rubbish strewn across streets

Gardai are on the hunt for the people responsible for dumping their rubbish right in the heart of Kilkenny city centre this morning.

The scourge of fly-tipping has been an ongoing issue throughout the county during the Covid-19 pandemic with many country lanes, tourist spots, and forest walks falling victim to fly-tippers over the past few months.

This morning it was the residents of Maudlin Street and Nore Terrace who were the latest to fall foul of the disgusting occurrence of people dumping their waste on other’s doorsteps. Apart from general waste scattered across the street, a toddlers push chair was also among the trash discarded.

The Kilkenny Garda Mountain Bike Patrol discovered the black plastic bags full to the brim with rubbish while on patrol this morning.

A local garda spokesperson said: “There is never an excuse for this behaviour which ruins our beautiful city.

“Please ring Kilkenny County Council on 056 7752699 or ourselves on 056 777 5000 you see illegal dumping,” the spokesperson concluded.
