WARNING: Bogus tradesmen preying on ‘vulnerable’ Kilkenny people
Kilkenny gardai have urged householders to beware of “bogus tradespeople” who are preying on the elderly and vulnerable as the winter nights set in.
A local garda spokesperson confirmed they have recieved reports of con artists overcharging unsuspecting victims for “grossly substandard and overpriced” work on their homes.
The poskesperson added: “In many cases these people prey on people they perceive as more vulnerable. They are largely unregistered and uninsured.”
Gardia have urged people never to allow anyone to carry out work on their property “without verifying their Safe Pass”.
They added: “Never ever agree to works without agreeing a price. Call us if you are in any way suspicious.”
